Values-based decision-making is a concept I use both in my executive coaching and in my life choices. As an executive coach working with clients, one of the first steps that I do is to help the client identify their values. Probably even more important than organizational values are the individual’s personal values. If there is a lack of congruence in the individual values and the organizational values, an individual’s employment becomes work. When an individual’s values are congruent with the organizational values, employment takes on a sense of calling and can be very fulfilling for the individual (and profitable for the organization). Executive coaching servicesPeople are typically afraid of negative things.  Oftentimes they fear self-improvement as well.  In psychological self-improvement, the best way for you to remove a fear is to understand that life is always in the cycle of difficulties.  No one is permanently up or permanently down.  Remember that no one can avoid these difficulties – even the most envied Hollywood stars.

Book: Jesus ManifestoJesus Manifesto by Leonard Sweet and Frank Viola is an excellent book that addresses the greatest personality to ever walk the earth and shape human history. In the contemporary culture of church programming and church decline, this book addresses the main issue of irrelevant and declining churches – it is all about Jesus.

Ghandi once said, “Christian are so unlike their Christ.” The authors assert that the world likes Jesus; they just do not like the church and those who represent Jesus. As the title indicates, this book is about Jesus and calls for a reframing of one’s paradigm regarding Him. The authors cut through the religious platitudes and call for a simple and yet consuming love for Jesus. For those who prescribe to be Christians, this is a must read. Read the rest of this entry »

Do you need help in making a decision or prompting others to make a decision? If you have not yet experienced it in your career, you can be assured that you will at some point.  Truly, this might be part of your daily ritual – not making a decision on the issues that really matter.  We all procrastinate on from time to time, but it is important not to confuse procrastination with quality thinking time.

Reflection time is the space we create for ourselves to reflect in quiet, to consider options, benefits and drawbacks before making a decision (and some of the best decisions are often made after a period of tranquility and contemplation), procrastination is more related to … Read the rest of this entry »
